Energy Efficiency Calculator

Lockheed Martin tasked our team to create a product to encourage their customers in Indiana to sign up for free energy efficiency kits that allow customers to make minor changes to decrease their energy usage. To foster an educational component to empower customers to think more critically about how their living environment and daily habits impact their energy efficiency, I designed a short quiz that assesed how the users behavior, device usage, and home strucutre impacted their energy usage.

Wireframe

Working alongside the content strategist and development team we determined the appropriate questions and logic for the microsite quiz. Based on these conversations I created wireframes to prototype to test the feasibility of our design.

Process
UI Design

During the design phase the structure of the experience pivoted from a single page experience to a landing page with a quiz on a new page, this was driven by development needs to accoomdate the functionality of the customer information database. I experimented with multiple visual approaches, utilizing bright colors to align with the fresh and modern spirit of energy efficiency, because we were given no constrainsts from the client, and finally they approved a version that closely matched the brand colors.
